What's coming in 2010 from Balancing Reflexions?

Hopi Ear Candling ... A wonderfully relaxing treatment which calms the mind and soothes the head and ears. I plan to start offering this new treatment early in the New Year.

Aromaflex ... Aromaflex is a brand new treatment combining the benefits of Aromatherapy and Reflexology. I will learn how to use essential oils in my treatments and how to select the best one to benefit you and your specific needs. The course is a year long and involves assignments, assessments, case studies and an exam. I hope to be adding this treatment to my portfolio in early 2011.

Precision Reflexology ... I am excited to have an opprtunity to learn some new techniques to enhance my existing reflexology treatments. Working more with the subtle body .. our energy system .. rather than the physical body, using specific 'linking techniques' where two or more reflex points are gently held for a powerful and profound effect. I hope that Precision Reflexology will add a whole new dimension to my treatments and I look forward to being able to incorporate the techniques from July 2010.

Exciting times ahead.....!!

Coming soon..Hopi Ear Candling!!

Hopi Ear Candling is a wonderfully relaxing treatment which calms the mind and soothes the head and ears.

The treatment induces a pleasant feeling of warmth and a balance of pressure in the ears, forhead and sinuses. It is soothing and helpful for earache and headache, ear noise, stress and nervousness. It may also spontaneously cause freer nasal breathing and an improved sense of smell, even when the nose was blocked before treatment.

Keep an eye on my website for more information but I plan to add this treatment to my portfolio early next year.

School holidays

Ah, for those of us with children the long heady days of summer holidays are nearly upon us! Picnics in the park, days out to the beach.... Although the school holidays can bring much joy and fun, they can also be demanding on mums, dads and grandparents.

Want to enjoy the summer and prepare yourself mentally and physically? If you haven't already tried reflexology or Indian Head massage then now would be a great time to experience the relaxing and energising benefits that a treatment can bring.

Although I shall be taking time to enjoy being with my children too I will be available during this school holiday time, although on a slightly more limited basis each week and have appointments available in daytime, evenings and weekends.

I look forward to welcoming you to my calming therapy room soon!

Update on back pain case study....

I am thrilled to report that after two weekly treatments my client is pain free! She tells me that this is the first time for many years.

I am looking forward to this continuing over the course of her six treatments. Then hopefully the next stage will be increasing the time between treatments until we agree on a suitable maintenance plan which will support her on a long term basis.

I am delighted with this result and do hope that other people may be encouraged to try reflexology as a solution to chronic back pain.

For more information on the case study or to book an appointment please contact me - all my details are on my website.

Reflexology for Back Pain

Do you suffer with back pain? Do you feel you have got as far as you can with your GP but still no solution reached? What else have you tried?

As part of my continued professional development I have just begun a case study on reflexology for back pain.

There is much evidence to suggest that reflexology can be helpful in easing back pain. I have been fortunate to find a long-term sufferer who has agreed to be a case study for me so that I can research this further.

She has agreed to 6 treatments on a weekly basis and I look forward to seeing how she progresses during that time.

I plan to publish the results here but please do contact me in the meantime if you would like any further information on this research or on how reflexology could help your back pain.

Reflection on the festival...

The Mind Body Spirit Festival in London yesterday was interesting...

It was crazily busy. The stalls were far too close together, so much so that you could hardly tell where one ended and another started. I don't know about you but I like to have a good look round first, stand and watch a while and then go back to anything I want to explore further. No chance! I just got swept along with the masses and there was certainly no opportunity to linger anywhere.

The cost of taster treatments was staggering! An example was Iridology - £40 for I think 20 minutes - and there were various psychic readings and therapies to try all costing a small fortune. What totally amazes me is how the therapists can work their way through a never ending conveyor belt of people and be able to give each and every one individual attention and focus. How do they do that?

I would have loved to have stopped some people and asked them if they had found what they were looking for yesterday and in a moment of reflection I wondered what it was that brought people there. For me it was a fact finding exercise - to discover new therapies I had not come across before. I certainly walked away with some leaflets but I did not feel tempted to join any queues to try anything.

Was I disappointed overall? Well yes I was a little. But one thing I have learnt is that there are so many people out there searching for help, insight, healing, answers and renewed energy.

If you can relate to the above and wonder if/how complementary therapies can help, do please give me a call. I am more than happy to chat about the therapies I offer and am always interested to discuss other therapies which may be of interest to you.

Mind Body Spirit Festival - London 2009

I'm really excited to be going to the Mind Body Spirit Festival in London today! There are so many fascinating complementary therapies out there which I would love to know more about and there will be many practitioners exhibiting and running workshops. I will let you know what I discover.....

Next time I write I will also share my experience of one of my favourites with you - yoga. Surprised it is known as a 'complementary therapy'? Yes, I was too until I thought it through and all the wonderful theraputic benefits I receive from it...if you haven't tried it, believe me it is SO much more than just an exercise class.

I would love to hear your views on other complementary therapies too. What have you tried before? Please share your experiences with me...
